Cool case!
Great find! I love the caddisfly case you found. I think the building materials in this environment were pretty large, so the caddisfly had to build a "low resolution case" rather than one with finer details. Well, that's one of my hypotheses! What do you think? Or, my other thought is there could be some adaptive value to having a case with really big and pointy twigs, like defense from predators. Anyways, those are my two thoughts, but I'd love to hear what you think. You were at the site, saw the cases and caddisflies, and have more experience with the locality. Great find of a cool case!
