Field Notes
When we went to Mackworth Island on October 4th, 2018, the temperature was in the low 60’s, it was slightly breezy, and the weather was overcast. The time was around noon. Our study site was the whole island, which was covered with all different types of plants, native and invasive. There were 6 people in our group, each looking for a different upland species. I personally was looking for Morrow’s honeysuckle, which is an invasive species in Maine. It was difficult to find the honeysuckle at the beginning of the walk, but as we got farther around the island, I started spotting little shrubs. However, there were no giant shrubs of the honeysuckle. Morrow’s honeysuckle was not affecting the environment around it, for wherever the honeysuckle was, there would only be one or two tall branches of it, but no massive shrubs. The honeysuckle was overall hard to find on the island.

This image shows the size and color of the leaf, for the size is 5 cm, which is between 4-6 cm, which is the size of the leaf of Morrow's honeysuckle, and the leaf is also a green-blue color

This image shows that the stem is branch-like, and it is a tan color and has the buds on the sides, where new leafs/flowers will come in, which is a trait of the honeysuckle

Comments

I guess it is good that this was relatively hard to find on the island. Do you know where else in Maine this has been found?
